Now that the holidays are over it’s time to start a new
project. We have new fabrics, new books and patterns, and lots of ideas. There
seems to never be enough time to quilt, but all of us can think about what we’ll
do next. Inspiration is everywhere.
If you made a New Year’s resolution to finish old
projects before starting a new one you’re among friends. Maybe you need a break
from that work in progress. Sometimes it helps to make something quick and
easy. Make a baby quilt, table runner, place mats, napkins or pillowcases. All
would be great gifts or something just for you.

Prevention
magazine lists sewing as one of the “World’s Best Stress Busters”. Picking up a
needle and thread could be one of the best exercises you can do for your health,
according to a new study conducted at the New York University Medical Center.
The study revealed
that women (or men) who sew have a drop in heart rate up to 11 beats per
minute. Sign me up!
New Stuff
There’s always
something new for everyone. New fabric groups of all styles are arriving.
Check out the sweet Beatrix Potter fabrics in soft baby colors. New bright and
graphic Bohemian prints are so hot. Laurel Burch’s latest bright and bold
fabrics with her signature kitties will make you smile. New black and whites
are as popular as ever.
Classes
New classes are
always being added to our schedule. We’ll have new classes and some old
favorites. Whether you prefer hand or machine piecing, you will find something
to enjoy. Join us for fun and fellowship.
Discounts
We offer a 15%
student discount on class supplies. You can be sure that our fabric is first
quality, 100% cotton quilting fabric. Even if you are a beginner, start with
quality quilt shop fabric. Quality fabric is so much easier to work with, and
produces a superior finished project. We invite you to read the “Quality Essay”
by a recognized fabric expert by following the link at the top of the page.
I encourage you to
use “the good stuff” for your quilt projects. From the time we began
QuiltSmiths, way back in 1999, our goal as a business was to promote and teach
the art and craft of quilt making so as to continue the legacy of those who came
before us. Since then I’ve observed that working with fabric whether sewing,
quilting or other needle work is truly therapeutic. How wonderful that we can
make something beautiful and full of love that also comforts us in the process
of creating, as well as in daily use.
Fat
Quarter Drawing
You asked for it.
In February we will begin collecting fat quarters for the drawing. For every
fat quarter you put in the basket we’ll match it with one of ours. At the end
of the month we will draw three names. The fat quarters will be divided evenly
between the three winners.
It must be 100%
cotton, first quality quilt shop fabric that measures 18” X 22”. Put your name
and phone number on a small piece of paper. Roll the fat quarter and put your
name and phone number inside. Secure with a rubber band.
We love to see
completed quilts. Bring yours in for show and tell.
Hope to see you at our Super Bowl Party.
Happy Stitching!
